Introduction
The China Theater Association(CTA), founded in 1949, is a national organization of theater professionals from all ethnic groups across China. It is also an institutional member of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC). By 2024, the CTA has more than 9,600 registered individual members and 34 institutional members.
For over 70 years, China Theater Association has actively engaged in hosting national theatre events, presenting national theater awards, promoting theatrical productions and identifying and training theater talents. The CTA the prestigious national "China Theater Award", which includes two sub categories: the Plum Blossom Acting Award and the Cao Yu Playwriting Award, both presented biennially. Regular theater events held by the CTA include the China Theater Festival, the Plum Blossom Acting Award Competition, the Cao Yu Playwriting Award Selection, the China Campus Theater Festival, the BeSeTo (China, Korea and Japan) Theater Festival, The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Chinese Theater Cultural Festival, the National Small Theater Excellence Showcase and Picking Talents from Art Garden: National Excellent Youth Art Talent Showcase, etc.
The present honorary president of CTA is Mr Shang Changrong, the president is Mr Pu Cunxin. Daily operations are overseen by Mr Chen Yongquan, the executive vice president.
